Buffs soccer prepares for inaugural season

McALESTER — When it comes to McAlester’s soccer teams, there are no previous seasons to improve upon, and no talent lost to graduation. Excluding a couple preseason scrimmages, there isn’t really a past of any sort.

There is only the present and the future. The Buffs’ first soccer game of their first season happens today against Regent Prepatory at Alsuma Field in Tulsa at 3:30 p.m.

“I think it’s pretty exciting for the kids,” Buffs soccer coach Gavin Crocker said Friday.

“I think it’s really neat for the community and the kids to get it started.”

After Tuesday’s game against Regent Prep, McAlester returns to Hook Eales Stadium for its home-opener on Friday against Wagoner. The girls will play at 5:30 p.m., followed by the boys at 7 p.m.
