McALESTER —
McAlester Housing Authority Board members voted to elect a chairperson Monday afternoon during the regularly scheduled meeting of board members.
Robert Way was elected to as chairperson, a position he is accustomed to since he is already serving as chairman of the board. Robert Goodspeed was elected as vice-chairperson.
Way informed the board that he plans on moving in the middle of February to just outside of the McAlester city limits. “I’m unsure if I will be able to continue to serve on this board,” Way explained to board members. Way said he is having McAlester Mayor Steve Harrison look into the matter for him. In the meantime, Way said he will serve as chairperson.
Also on the agenda, the board unanimously approved the Dec. 10 meeting minutes, cash disbursements for the month of December, balance sheets as of November and income statements ending in November.
Board members present during Monday’s meeting were Way, Goodspeed, Larry Walla, Mary Ellen Keeter and Betty Pickle. Also present at the meeting were Executive Director Joy Hollaway and Executive Secretary Donna Robinson.
The McAlester Housing Authority Board meets on the second Monday of each month. The meetings are open to the public.
