McALESTER —
A truck hit power poles and started a fire at 11:59 a.m. today, according to McAlester Police reports.
The first officer was on the scene at 11:59 a.m., according to police logs.The police blocked Main Street and Madison to ensure safety and secure the scene, according to Detective Captain Gary Wansick.
Wansick said a tractor trailer hit the wires, pulling down 4 poles before the driver realized what happened and came to a stop. The wires started a fire on the ground that was extinguished by the McAlester Fire Department
Behind him the wires hit two cars that sustained minor damage. Wansick said the drivers and people inside were not injured and the drivers were able to pull the cars to safety before exiting the vehicles.
In the area, traffic lights were out down Carl Albert Parkway at Main, First and Second streets...
