City council maneuvers to keep 14th Street and U.S. Highway 69 project flowing

McALESTER — McAlester city councilors went through an elaborate series of maneuvers Tuesday night to try and keep a major sewer construction project from getting stopped up for the evening.

At one point, following a long discussion, the council even moved onto another item so City Attorney Joe Ervin could work up some numbers. The matter occurred in the midst of the regular council meeting held in the council chambers at City Hall.

It involved an agenda item calling for the city council to vote on awarding a bid to C.S. Day & Associates LLC for construction of the 14th Street and U.S. Highway 69 sewer extension project in the amount of $410,488.

The project calls for construction of approximately 1,300 feet of an eight-inch sewer main from 14th Street to Cinema 69, providing sewer “to new and existing businesses.”
