Commissioners sign nearly $200,000 in grant contracts

McALESTER — The Pittsburg County commissioners signed grant contracts totaling nearly $200,000 Tuesday morning during their regularly scheduled meeting.

There were seven different Rural Economic Action Plan (REAP) grant project contracts approved and signed by commissioners and totaling $197,937.05.

• Ashland Volunteer Fire Department — $13,500.

• Haywood /Arpelar Volunteer Fire Department — $8,322.

• Pittsburg County Conservation District — $15,000.

• Wise Road in District No. 2 — $27,038.35.

• Lick Creek Road in District No. 1 — $27,038.35.

• North McAlester Lake Road in District No. 3 — $27.038.35.

• McInally Road in District No. 1 — $80,000.

Also on the agenda regarding these approved grants, commissioners approved and signed a certificate of authorized signatures and a non-collusion affidavit with KEDDO.

In other action, commissioners unanimously approved the following agenda items:

• Acceptance of a road system in Falcon Tree subdivision plat — the road system was approved as public roads but they are not to become county maintained roads at this time.

• Resolution to surplus equipment in District No. 1.

• Resolution to cancel an Alderson Volunteer Fire Department purchase order.

• Awarding a bid for Janitorial Services for the Pittsburg County Courthouse and Annex and the Pittsburg County Oklahoma State University Extension Center.

• A road crossing permit for Markwest Oklahoma Gas Company in District No. 3.

Commissioners tabled an agenda item to award bids for mat maintenance and uniform services. Commissioners tabled the item to have further time to review the bids.

Pittsburg County commissioners meet every Monday at 9 a.m. in the commissioners conference room at the Pittsburg County Courthouse. The meetings are open to the public.
