McALESTER — Passing seems to come naturally for McAlester senior Ashley Washington. In basketball she plays shooting guard; in soccer she plays midfield.
Her favorite basketball memory is of a pass.
“We were playing against Hugo my junior year, and everyone had fouled out, and we were in overtime, and I gave the assist to the winning shot,” Washington said Wednesday.
Growing up in McAlester, Washington has known her Lady Buffalo teammates for a long time. She started playing basketball in the third grade — “Basketball was easier then,” she said — at Tannehill, teaming up with or facing off against teammates like Meredith Saunier, Heather Brozovich and Shattee Robinson.
