McAlester man accused of rape, sexual battery

McALESTER — A McAlester man was recently accused of rape and sexual battery.

Gregory Wayne Stover, 21, was charged March 8 in Pittsburg County District Court with one felony count of rape by instrumentation and one felony count of sexual battery.

According to court records, Stover allegedly gave a 17-year-old girl a ride to a local gas station. The girl told police Stover allegedly tried kissing her after leaving the gas station, a police affidavit states. The girl told police “she kept telling him no,” the affidavit states. The girl told police Stover parked the vehicle in an alley and allegedly “began trying to pull her on top of him and began kissing and biting her neck,” the affidavit states.

The girl told police she repeatedly told Stover to stop but he allegedly sexually assaulted her regardless of her resistance, the affidavit states. “She stated that she began yelling at him to take her home,” the affidavit states. “Stover began cussing her and finally drove her home.”

As evidence, police took photographs of red marks and bruising on the girls throat and neck, the affidavit states.

A $50,000 warrant has been issued for Stover’s arrest. If convicted, he is facing up to life in prison.
