McALESTER —
Two Okmulgee men found picking up a 15 year-old boy early Sunday morning were charged with making lewd proposals to a child and conspiracy, according to a court affidavit.
Dwight Allen Beard, 48, and Justin Pollard,43, both of Okmulgee, men were charged Monday afternoon in Pittsburg County District Court with two felonies, conspiracy and making lewd proposals
The men were arrested after deputies spotted them picking up a 15- year- old boy in Long Town about 1:30 Sunday morning, the affidavit states.
Pittsburg County Sheriff Deputy Nick Mattioda said in the affidavit that he was patrolling the Long town area west bound on State Highway 9 when we observed another car traveling east bound get off the highway turn around and get back on the highway going west bound.
He said he pulled the vehicle over after he saw the car pull to the shoulder pick someone up and then drive off with the signal on.
Mattioda said he found Beard and Pollard in the front seat and the 15-year-old boy in the back seat.
The deputy questioned the two men about why they would be picking up (the boy) at 1:30 in the morning. The men allegedly said they were picking up the boy for construction work the next morning, according to the affidavit.
The boy was questioned and he allegedly said he was picked up for sex, the affidavit states.
During questioning the boy said the three had allegedly sent nude pictures to each other after he got in contact with the men about a week ago through a phone app, according to the affidavit.
After checking the boy’s phone Mattioda said Mattioda said he found pictures that became part of the investigation.
The affidavit states Beard and Pollard were arrested at 3:18 a.m. and transported to Pittsburg County Jail.
The boy was released to his mother.
If convicted the two men face up to 30 years in the Oklahoma State Penitentiary.
