Stuart hosts a Fun Day

McALESTER — Stuart firefighters will hold their first Stuart Fun Day Saturday down town Stuart starting at 3 p.m. until events finish and hay rides end, Stuart Volunteer Firefighters Auxiliary member Jeannette Hyson-Tweedel said.

“We have a lot of things planned,”  Hyson-Tweedel said.

She said there will be a horseshoe tournament, hay rides, Halloween costume contests for ages 0 to 16, bash-a-car at three hits for $1, a bake auction and many other activities in downtown Stuart.

“Not only did we want to raise funds for the fire department,” Hyson-Tweedel said. “But we wanted to do something fun.”

There will be free food and inflatables, she said.

The horseshoe tournament will cost $5 entry per team and there will be trophies for first through third places.

The Halloween costume contests will award trophies to one boy and one girl from each age group, she said.

“We will be selling support T-shirts for the fire department for $15,” Hyson-Tweedel said.  There will be a drawing for tickets sold to win a boys and girls bike and other prizes.

The Stuart 4-H and Cloverbud clubs will have games and activities such as pumpkin painting.

All proceeds will go to benefit the Stuart Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary to purchase much needed equipment such as bunker gear, the fire suit worn while fighting fire, Hyson-Tweedel said.

“We invite everyone out,” she said. “We encourage you to come out and enjoy Stuart Fun Day with us.”

For more information, call Jeanette Hyson-Tweedel at 918-318-0121.
