McAlester Club Volleyball Team wins Texas tournament

McALESTER — McAlester Club Volleyball Team coach Anita Burns, back row on right, poses with her team after taking first place in the silver bracket tournament at the Trinity River Showdown in Grand Prairie, Texas, on Jan. 16. Sarah Crawford and Pam Patton also played in the tournament but are not pictured.

The team also took third place in the Muskogee Volleyball Club Tournament at Okay and second place in the Premier Volleyball Club Tournament at Norman.

The team will play a home tournament planned Feb. 23 at Bob Brumley Gymnasium.

Paisley Hopper, the “dog”-ter of Debbie Hopper, is a Yorkie. Paisley recently won the American Cancer Society Relay for Life pet contest fundraiser. Paisley received a doggy gift card and gift basket and will appear in a commercial in June with the winners of the Relay for Life cutest kids contest. “Our pet contest raised over $4,000,” said organizer Valerie Lalli.
