Howard Neal Lalman

McALESTER — Howard Neal Lalman, 90, of McAlester, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2013, in McAlester.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Lalman Ranch (Red Barn) at 1245 Lalman Rd.

Born June 18, 1922, in Rural McAlester to George Edward and Ida Mae (Wood) Lalman, Howard grew up in the McAlester area and graduated from Crowder High School. He attended Eastern Oklahoma State College before enlisting in the U.S. Navy. On June 18, 1943, he married Pauline Audrey Oliver in McAlester. He was a devoted farmer and rancher. The Lalman family won the Farm Family of the year for Pittsburg County on more than one occasion.

Howard’s wishes were for his ashes to be spread on the farm that he so dearly loved and that has been in the family for almost 100 years. Howard was an avid sports fan and attended all of his children’s sporting events and elective activities.

He is survived by children, Howard Neal Lalman Jr. and wife, Laura, of Marble Falls, Texas, Gary Paul Lalman and wife, Margo, of Payson, Ariz., Diana Sue (Lalman) McAdoo, of Oklahoma City, David Boyd Lalman; and granddaughter, Lacey, of McAlester, and Monte Mack Lalman and wife, Susette, of Horseshoe Bay, Texas.

He is survived by seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife of nearly 50 years, Pauline Lalman on May 2, 1993; sisters, Gladys Dawson, Edith Watts and Ruth Christian; and brothers, George Lalman and Ed Lalman

The family ask that memorials may be made to National Parkinson Foundation Gift Processing Center at P.O. Box 5018 Hagerstown, MD 21741-5018, or by visiting www.parkinson.org. The family wishes to thank all of those involved in helping during Howard’s illness, Solara, McAlester Hospice and Walnut Grove Living Center.
