Alleged meth house on Main St. in McAlester busted

McALESTER — An Alleged methamphetamine lab in a house on Main Street in McAlester was busted recently and five local residents were charged in connection.

Steven Cody Orman, 21, of McAlester, was charged Dec. 31 in Pittsburg County District Court with a felony count of maintaining a place for keeping /selling controlled substances.

Orman, and four other defendants in the case, were charged with additional felony and misdemeanor drug counts:

• Felony manufacturing a controlled dangerous substance (methamphetamine);

• Felony unlawful use of a police radio or scanner;

• Misdemeanor possession of a controlled dangerous substance (marijuana); and

• Misdemeanor unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to court records, local authorities executed a search warrant just after midnight on Dec. 30 for a home in the 900 block of North Main Street in McAlester. Police allegedly found numerous items associated with the manufacturing of methamphetamine.

Orman was arrested and charged along with:

• Jonathan Shane Powell, 22, of Kiowa;

• Taylor D. Powell, 18, of Savanna;

• Ramon Devonair Brown Jr., 20, of McAlester; and

• Travis Daniel Robson, 22, of Kiowa.

According to Friday’s daily inmate list for the Pittsburg County jail, all five defendants remain in custody in lieu of bonds. Brown, Taylor Powell and Jonathan Powell are being held in lieu of $50,000 bonds. Orman is being held in lieu of  $10,000 bond and Robson in lieu of a $15,000 bond.

They were all unavailable for comment at presstime. If convicted, they are all facing life in prison. They are all due back in court Jan. 10 at 9 a.m. to face charges.
