On Monday, Bugtssle volunteer firefighters David Weeks, right and Doyle Morris, second from right, watch as water pumped from new dry hydrants shoots from a fire hose to a pond. The hydrants will be used to fight fires on the east side of State Highway 69 near the Bugtussle area. Triad Transport granted access and several members of the community donated time and materials to the project. Also pictured left is Carl Dupuy, site manager for the BP Arkoma Region,Rep. Donnie Condit, D-McAlester and John Titsworth president of Triad Transport.

Fighting between the North and South All-Star teams forced the 29th annual Lake Eufaula Classic to end without a winner with 6:41 left in the third quarter. The South had been leading when the game ended, 12-10.

Tornadoes and severe weather have torn through a large part of Oklahoma today (May 20,2013) and have devastated Moore south of Oklahoma City hitting two schools and Moore's hospital.
Severe weather is possible for Pittsburg County and is under a tornado watch until 10 p.m. this evening.
McAlester/Pittsburg County Director of Emergency Service Trent Myers gives video tips on how to weather the storms.
