Arrest made in Alderson shooting case

McALESTER — In less than 48 hours an arrest has been made in a case involving an intruder who was shot after allegedly breaking into the home of an Alderson man. Meanwhile another person is still wanted for questioning.

“It’s a miracle no one was killed,” said Joel Kerns Pittsburg County Sheriff.
On Thursday, Billy Jack Thomason, 47, of Holdenville was arrested by Pittsburg County Sheriff’s deputy Tommy Lyons.

Late Wednesday Lyons was dispatched to an Alderson residence after a 911 call.
According to police reports, J.D. Giacomo called 911 to report that he had shot an intruder in his home. Giacomo told the officers that he was getting ready to cook dinner when he heard a car door open. He saw his ex-girl friend walk down the drive way and he saw the vehicle pull away headed east.
The report states that “he didn’t answer the door because he didn’t want her in his house.”
According to the report, after hearing   a noise near his shop where his boats were stored, he took his 44 caliber pistol with him while he went outside to take a look.
That’s when he found a female crawling in his doggy door and he saw another person run into the side door, the same one he just came out of, the reports states.
Giacomo reported that he went back inside his house and saw the suspect standing in a doorway down the hall pointing a 12-gauge shotgun at him.
The reports states that Giacomo moved to the living room to get out of the line of fire and hollered for the (intruders) to leave. The female suspect ran out the door, while the male suspect fired the shotgun at Giacomo. Giacomo returned fire, through a wall, shooting the suspect.
The suspect then ran past Giacomo and out the door and the homeowner also ran out the door when the suspect fired the shotgun again. That’s when Giacomo said he called 911, according to the report.
Lyons and other officers on the scene began searching for the suspect who “left on foot-bleeding profusely,” the reports states.
Early Tuesday morning Lyons found the suspect lying on the ground next to a truck, according to the report.
Information about the case and the suspect wanted for questioning can be sent anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 866-970-8477 or texted to 274637 with TIPS4U as the first word of the text. Web tips can also be given at www.tip2.us. All calls will be kept confidential.
