Relay for Life information meeting slated

McALESTER — The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life McAlester-area members are hosting an informational gathering March 21 at 6 p.m. in the St. John’s Catholic Church gymnasium at 300 E. Washington Ave. in McAlester.

“Refreshments will be served,” said event organizer Valerie Lalli. “We’ll tell you about Relay for Life and how this event benefits your community and the fight against cancer.”

“Relay for Life represents the hope that those lost to cancer will never be forgotten, that those who face cancer will be supported, and that one day cancer will be eliminated,” Lalli said.

Lalli said anyone interested in Relay for Life and the fight against cancer is welcome to attend the meeting. “Gather your family, friends, co-workers, church family and neighbors and start a team,” Lalli said. “We will show you how.”

Lalli said last year’s fundraising efforts raised $96,500. “This year, we hope to raise $100,000.”

For more information, contact Lalli at 918-470-4608 or Sarah Bowman at 918-261-7844.
