McALESTER —
William “Bill” Blackwell, 65, of McAlester, died Thursday, March 7, 2013, at McAlester Regional Health Center.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Brumley-Mills Chapel. The Rev. William Nixon will officiate. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens Memorial Park.
Arrangements are under the direction of Brumley-Mills Funeral Home of McAlester.
He was born July 15, 1947, in Palmdale, Calif., to Robert and Ruth (Kline) Blackwell. He married Kay Stroehmer on Dec. 12, 2005, at DeQueen, Ark. He retired from the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant and was a member of the Bugtussle Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Kay Blackwell, of the home; son, William James Blackwell II, of Paris, Ark.; six grandchildren, and his brother, Don Blackwell, of McAlester.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Bobby Blackwell, and sister, Laura.
Pallbearers will be Dale Yount, Trey Pitchlynn, Terry Yount, Johnny Rotten, Bobby Wiser and Terry Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be Everett Phifer, Terry Trammell and Roger Timmons.

Tornadoes and severe weather have torn through a large part of Oklahoma today (May 20,2013) and have devastated Moore south of Oklahoma City hitting two schools and Moore's hospital.
Severe weather is possible for Pittsburg County and is under a tornado watch until 10 p.m. this evening.
