Goodman and Senator Harry Reid. The Honorable Chaka Fattah, Congressman from the Second District of Pennsylvania and architect of the country’s most successful early college awareness and preparation program (GEAR UP), spoke to the audience via tape.
Team members selected various workshop tracks including GEAR UP 101; GEAR UP Program Models: Effective Program Outreach; Benchmarks & Transitions from Middle School to High School; GEAR UP Grant Management Tools for Successful Fiscal Management; Weapons of Mass Communication (and Other Cool Tools); Financial Literacy; Transitioning from Common Core to Support College Readiness and Success; Optimizing Community Partners to Increase STEM Initiatives; and Power to Lead—Directors.
