Bixby man pleads in trafficking case

McALESTER — A Bixby man pleaded guilty recently in a drug-trafficking case.

Jason Alexander Giddings, 28, was charged March 5 in Pittsburg County District Court with various drug counts in two separate cases, including:

• Trafficking in illegal drugs;

• Misdemeanor possession of a controlled dangerous substance;

• Misdemeanor unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia; and

• Distribution of marijuana within 2,000 feet of a school.

On Jan. 14, the trafficking charge was amended to possession of a controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute. Giddings pleaded guilty and judgment and sentencing were deferred for 10 years.

He was fined $27,230 with $24,500 of that amount suspended.

On March 2, the District 18 Narcotics Task Force arranged a sting operation when Giddings decided to come to McAlester and sell 1.22 ounces of cocaine, according to court records. In an earlier surveillance, in February, the task force recorded Giddings trip to McAlester to sell a quarter pound of marijuana.

When authorities interviewed Giddings, he admitted to the intended drug sales, according to a police affidavit.

“He (Giddings) stated the following,” the affidavit reads. “He had previously picked up the cocaine, was bringing it to McAlester for two separate individuals and was keeping the smaller portion for personal use. He was currently en route to drop off one ounce of the cocaine before being stopped by the officer.”

When police searched his vehicle, the found $1,115.28 cash and $603 in casino chips, the affidavit states.
