PIM offers 'graffiti grant'

McALESTER — Pride In McAlester now offers assistance to property owners to help fight graffiti-related vandalism in the McAlester area.

The organization desires to help businesses and property owners further beautify and

enhance the community through a “Graffiti Grant.”

To be eligible for the grant, the property must be located within McAlester City Limits.

The owner is responsible for labor, supplies and equipment necessary to apply the paint to

the graffiti affected surface. Participants will receive reimbursement for paint expenses.

Graffiti is defined as markings, initials, slogans, or drawings, written or spray-painted on the exterior surface of a structure.

Mel Priddy, the City’s Director of Community

Services and Vice President of the PIM Board of Directors, says this is a problem around McAlester and this grant helps encourage removal of the graffiti now present in the community.

All applications for reimbursement must be approved in advance and payment will not be made until after the painting is completed.

The amount of paint reimbursed will be determined by a Pride In McAlester representative.

For more information about the Pride In McAlester Graffiti Grant, visit www.prideinmcalester.com, contact Stephanie Giacomo at 918-426-4444 or email pim@prideinmcalester.com.
