Carl Albert set to join in disaster planning event

McALESTER — Carl Albert Community Health Center agreed to participate with other agencies to stage a full-scale disaster planning exercise in April.

The annoucement was made Wednesday during a regular meeting of the LEPC at the Southeast Expo Center.

The exercise involves staging a full-scale disaster scenario on April 18 at the Kiamichi Technology Center.

The scenario is designed will help agencies plan what to do when a real disaster strikes, according to Trent Myers E911director and LEPC member.

“The goal is to utilize all the resources we’ve got.” Myers said.

Local agencies such as McAlester Regional Health Center, local police and fire departments and the Pittsburg County Sheriff are encouraged to attend to the event.

After the event the groups gather and discuss improvements that can be made in the future.

The LEPC meetings are held at 2 p.m. on the third Wednesday of the month at the Southeast Expo Center.

The meetings are open to the public.
