Broadway comes to McAlester

McALESTER — The McAlester Choral Department is bringing Broadway to town.

April 5 and April 7 the choir will perform a Broadway review featuring such hits as “Hello, Dolly,” “Give My Regards to Broadway,” “The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow,” “Luck Be a Lady Tonight,” and “Seventy-Six Trombones.”

Marie Lutz choir director for the choir said her students have been working for months on the show which will span 100 years of Broadway.

“Put on your top hat, grab your cane, wear your sparkle dresses, and come join the MHS Choral Department as they present a song and dance review of the finest Broadway tunes from the past and present,” Lutz said.

“Sing along with love songs such as “Memories,” “Send In the Clowns,”“On the Street Where You Live,”and “If I Love You,” she said.

“Students will sing and dance and the audience can clap along to Broadway hits such as “Freedom,” “Before The Parade Passes By” and “Jesus Christ, Superstar.”

Lutz said the group will perform the most current Broadway tunes such as selections from the Broadway version of “Mary Poppins.”

The Broadway review will be performed at S. Arch Auditorium for two shows only,April 5 at 7 p.m. and on April 7 at 2:30 p.m.

There will not be a Saturday performance.

Tickets are $5 and can be purchased from any MHS choral student.

Tickets will also be sold at the door at both performances.
