HASKELL COUNTY:

Checotah man injured in rollover

McALESTER — Officials say driving under the influence is the suspected cause of an accident that injured a Checotah man late Saturday night in Stigler.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported the accident that occurred on State Highway 9 about a half-mile west of Stigler in Haskell County.

According to the report, Caleb Toothill, 22, of Checotah, was heading westbound on State Highway 9 in a construction zone driving at a high rate of speed. He went around a curve and lost control of his vehicle, according to the  report.

Toothills vehicle ran off the south-edge of the highway and rolled three times before coming to rest on the drivers side.

The OHP reports that Toothill was transported to Stigler Hospital in

stable condition with possible head, neck, arm and trunk injuries. He was transported by medical aircraft to St. John Medical Center in Tulsa.

He was not wearing a seatbelt, the report states.

The accident was investigated by OHP. Haskell County Sheriff’s Department and the Stigler Fire Department were the first responders to the accident.
