McALESTER —
A man known to some in Oklahoma as “Mr. Archives” will present a class on “Creating Oral Histories” Tuesday at McAlester Public Library.
Bill Welge, author of over 20 articles in The Chronicles of Oklahoma and other publications, brings his expertise to the ongoing “Tuesdays with Memories” family history writing course, set for Tuesdays from 2-4 p.m. at the library. Welge’s presentation will be in the upstairs meeting room and is free and open to the public.
He is co-author of the book “Oklahoma: A Rich Heritage,” with Odie B. Faulk, and currently serves on the Oklahoma City Mayor’s Murrah Memorial Task Force.
The following Tuesday, Robert O. Pulse will present a class on “Researching Military Records.”
Pulse will join presenter David Beall July 17, when Beall will present a talk on unusual research resources. This session will also be from 2-4 p.m. and will be in the Whiteacre Room.
Pulse has given talks to genealogy groups in Northern Illinois, Eufaula, Muskogee and Logan County. A genealogy researcher since 1992, he is active in the Pittsburg County Genealogical and Historical Society.
Beall has presented summer classes at the library this year on “Online Genealogical Research” and “Introduction to Family Histories.” His last presentation, “Preserving Artifacts and Heirlooms,” is set for July 24.
For more information on this or any other library program, call 918-426-0930.
