5 Okla. jail inmates charged in prisoner’s death

Chickasaw — At least five Grady County inmates have been charged with first-degree murder in the beating of a fellow inmate in May.

Prosecutors filed the charges Thursday against Grant Curry, Joseph Hill, Matthew Jackson, Steven Nidey and Cody Sitlington in connection with the May 17 death of Anthony Mollman.

Federal court records show Mollman was being held on several drug counts at the jail, which houses federal and state inmates.

Irven Box, an attorney for Mollman’s family, told The Oklahoman that Mollman was killed because other inmates discovered he had agreed to cooperate with a federal investigation.

An investigator alleged in court affidavits that jail video footage he reviewed showed several inmates attacking Mollman.

Court records didn’t indicate Friday whether any of the men had retained legal representation.
