Hartshorne drummer, band finishes first album and is set to play in McAlester

(AP) — The Jason Stringfellow Band, also known as JSB, is to play in McAlester this weekend and later this month.

The band will play at Lucky’s Club on Saturday at 10 p.m., and at Brangus Feed Lot Steak House on Feb. 28 at 7 p.m.

The band’s genre is country and is based out of Stillwater; the band’s drummer, Brandon Budzinsky, is from Hartshorne.

Budzinsky said he has played with Jason Stringfellow before in another band when he lived in Stillwater from 2003 until he moved back to the Hartshorne area in 2008.

It is in 2010 that Stringfellow called Budzinsky asking him to join JSB.

Budzinsky attended Hartshorne High School, was raised in the Hartshorne area and is the son of Joe Budzinsky, who was a member of a popular local band in the 70s and early 80s called High Country Express.

“My dad taught me to play drums when I was 4,” Budzinsky said. “I have been playing ever since. I am 30 now.”

Busdzinsky said the band has a lot of energy and work very well together.

“We have a lot of fun,” he said. “Otherwise, why would be doing this?”

“We have many originals and have released our first CD,” he said and added the band chooses their set list, and will change the set list as needed, by the feel of the crowd.

The band has released a self titled album with songs such as “My Hometown,” “California,” “Rough House,” “My Way Home” and “Teardrops In Tulsa.”

“We (the band) just click,” he said. “And, we can look at each other, when we are playing, and know what we all are thinking.”

The band is currently touring throughout Oklahoma, Kansas and Arkansas.

“The Jason Stringfellow Band’s music tastefully depicts life as they see and experience it,” said Band representative Kortney Dove. “Both good and bad.”

Dove said the band consists of Stringfellow as lead vocalist, playing acoustic and electric guitar; James Seals, from Morristown, Tenn., plays lead guitar and sings harmony vocals; Larry Smith, from Lamar plays bass guitar and Budzinsky.

She said Stringfellow, Smith, and Budzinsky come from a country music background while Seals comes from a rock and blues background.

“When their styles combine, the product is a rocking style of country with unbelievable energy and passion,” Dove said. “The JSB is an outstanding up-and-coming group that will leave any crowd wanting more.”

“The band works real hard,” Stringfellow said. Stringfellow is not only the lead singerand guitarist, he is the namesake of the band

Stringfellow said the band has plenty of talent, and for the last year, has worked very hard on the album they just released.

“Brandon and I are pretty tight,” Stringfellow said. “We’ve known each other a while.”

He said he first met Brandon in Stuart at Jakus White’s birthday. White is a member of the Bo Phillips Band. The Bo Phillips Banda band is also based out of Stillwater and is known in southeast Oklahoma.

Both Budzinsky and Stringfellow said they are excited to be playing in McAlester and Budzinsky added he invites all out to have a great time.
