McALESTER —
On Wednesday a McAlester baby girl became the first baby born in 2013 at McAlester Regional Health Center, according to Susan Williams public relations manager for the hospital.
Kaylee Janette Rubin was born at 2:38 p.m. and weighed 5 pounds and 15 ounces and was 18.6 inches long.
Her mother is Mandi Rubin of McAlester.
“I was excited and surprised when I found out she was the first baby born this year,” Mandi Rubin said.
Kaylee was born three weeks premature, after 20 hours of labor, according to her mother.
“She was three weeks early but she is doing fine, Kaylee’s mother said.
“We get to go home tomorrow.”
Mandi Rubin said Kaylee has two sisters and one brother waiting for thier little sister to come home.
Meanwhile, in honor of Kaylee’s birth, Williams said the family will receive three cases of diapers from MRHC and a stuffed animal.

Tornadoes and severe weather have torn through a large part of Oklahoma today (May 20,2013) and have devastated Moore south of Oklahoma City hitting two schools and Moore's hospital.
Severe weather is possible for Pittsburg County and is under a tornado watch until 10 p.m. this evening.
