Driver safety course offered

McALESTER —

McAlester Driver Safety Instructor Joanne Vermillion will be teaching a driver safety course on Friday.
“We will teach some helpful tips on safe driving techniques,”Vermillion said.
The safety course will teach valuable defensive driving skills and provide a refresher of the rules off the road, according to press release from the AARP which is sponsoring the class.
“It’s been awhile since some of us had driver’s training and we will teach some very useful tips and reminders.”
She said after attending a driver safety class recently she saw the need for more classes and for more volunteer instructors so she said she volunteered to be trained to become an instructor.
The class will be held Friday from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Kiamichi Technology Center.
“Although the class is designed for those over 50, it’s open to everyone,” Vermillion said.
And there is no test at the end of the class, she said, “It’s just all instruction.”
The safety course will teach valuable defensive driving skills and provide a refresher of the rules off the road, according to press release from the AARP which is sponsoring the class.
The cost for the class is $12 for AARP members and $14 for non-members and lunch will not be provided for the class.
