NORMAN —
Landry Jones threw for 405 yards in Oklahoma's 35-20 victory over Iowa State last Saturday. The performance marked the 10th time in his career he's thrown for over 400 yards.
Over the last four games, Jones has thrown for 1,675 yards and 11 touchdowns. Despite the loss to Notre Dame, you could argue it's been the best five-game stretch of Jones' career. After all, three of the wins — Texas Tech, Texas and Iowa State — were away from Owen Field.
" I think some of the better football that I have been playing, that’s for sure. These last four or five games, I feel like I’ve been in rhythm, been playing really well, going through all of my reads, stepping up in the pocket, making some plays, " Jones said. " I think this is probably the better stretch in my career. "
Statistically, there's a chance it can get much better. OU faces Baylor at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Owen Field. It begins a stretch of two straight games against struggling defenses. The Bears are last in the FBS division in total defense, giving up 5727.25 yards per game. West Virginia, which OU faces on Nov. 17 in Morgantown, W.V., is No. 111 at 482.5.
