Blair girl shot by brother, authorities say

BLAIR, Okla. — Authorities in Jackson County say a young girl is expected to recover after she was accidentally shot by her 12-year-old brother.

Lawton television station KSWO reports (http://is.gd/hcw4yC ) that the children were playing with water guns when they discovered their parents’ loaded gun Wednesday night.

Undersheriff Stacy Randolph says the boy accidentally shot his younger sister in the neck. Her age wasn’t immediately available.

Authorities say the shooting appears to be accidental and that the children were not fighting when the gun went off.

The boy took his sister to a neighbor, who called for help. The girl was taken to OU Medical Center for treatment and Randolph says she’s expected to recover.
