Shinn on game day: Game is big recruiting event

NORMAN — Around 10 a.m. this morning, the corner of OU's sideline at the Cotton Bowl will be packed with 17- and 18-year-olds.

To the coaching staffs at both Oklahoma and Texas, those are the prizes of the Red River Rivalry.

They are the recruits.

The Sooners are the host team this year, so they'll be hosting the recruits.

This game is major recruiting edge for both schools.

"We do our best on both sides because it is special. We sure talk about it and promote it. I don't know that anyone gets it until they're there," OU coach Bob Stoops said. "We'll get a slew of them down there this weekend that will get a chance to see it. I think it is a big deal."
