McALESTER —
McAlester High School Coach Bryan Pratt and his fellow coaches will be putting on a football camp for players in grades two through eight July 20-22.
Pratt discussed the camp while talking on the phone on vacation Wednesday. He said the camp for the seventh and eighth grade athletes has previously been held seperately from the younger players, but there has been a dwindling number of players coming out for the camp.
Still, there will be differences. The seventh and eighth grade will alternate, with offense working outside for a time, then rotating with the defense coming outside. When each side is indoors, they will be working in the practice facility by Hook Eales Stadium.
Younger players, the second through sixth graders, will stay inside the indoor practice facility for their football camp work, according to Pratt.
This camp will also be one that is conducted in the evening hours. It will be held from 6-8 p.m. for the three evenings of the camp, the coach said.
Registration will be done on-site the first evening of the camp, before the work gets underway. That registration will be tonight at 5:30 p.m.
He said the camp is not restricted to McAlester athletes.
“It’s open to anybody,” he said, referring to those in the appropriate grades.
