Fans encouraged to show their colors

NORMAN — Sooner fans can show their true stripes Saturday at Memorial Stadium.

The University of Oklahoma is asking you to help "Stripe the Stadium,” according to information on SoonerSports.com.

The idea is to coordinate the display of crimson and cream for the national viewing audience on Saturday.

The OU Athletics Department would like to see those at the OU-Notre Dame football game wear either crimson or white depending on their seat inside Memorial Stadium.

According to the website, fans in even-numbered sections are encouraged to wear crimson-colored gear and fans in odd-numbered sections should wear white.

OU students are asked to wear crimson.

Those in attendance will get a commemorative OU/Notre Dame rally towel upon entry.

“I’m really excited for D.J. It’s been a long process, but fortunately he’s been cleared to practice,” OU coach Bob Stoops said after Tuesday’s practice. “He has to spend two days in just helmets. So he couldn’t do much. But he did fundamental work in learning the defense.”

The two practices Ward will spend without pads come prior to OU’s annual Red/White Spring Game at 2 p.m. Saturday at Owen Field.
