McALESTER (AP) — Former WNBA player Crystal Robinson has been hired as the girls basketball coach at McAlester High School.

The McAlester school board hired Robinson on Tuesday and she met with the Buffaloes on Wednesday. She will replace David Holt.

Considered one of the greatest players in state history, Robinson led Atoka High School to the Class 3A state title in 1992, then starred at Southeastern Oklahoma State University.

She led Southeastern to the NAIA Division I title game in 1995 and 1996, earning tournament MVP honors both seasons. She was a three-time first-team All-America selection and in 2003 was inducted into the NAIA Hall of Fame.

Robinson played for nine seasons for the WNBA’s New York Liberty and Washington Mystics, retiring two games into the 2007 season.
