End of Year Tourney quickly approaching

McALESTER — There are only six more Tuesday night jackpot fishing tournaments scheduled before the big end-of-year championship tournament.

A competitor must fish 10 Tuesday night jackpots before being eligible for the championship fish-off.

The top 10 leaders in weight up to Saturday’s most recent tournament were, in order from first to tenth, Larry Owens at 73.39, Jayce Davis, Chuck Courts, Lester “Ripper” Wray, Dennis Keener, Chuck Mahan, Joe Painter, Chris Spears, Jason Wilson, and Jim Bollinger.

There are several categories to win a new rod and reel including most nights fished, biggest largemouth bass for the season, largest smallmouth bass, Kentucky bass, the oldest fisherman, most weight, and most Tuesday nights won.

There is a five-way tie between Owens, Courts, Wray, Davis, and Sandra Gragg for the most nights fished. Bob Tucker is the largemouth leader right now with a 5.93-pound bass on his resume.

Larry Owens has caught the largest smallmouth bass to date for this season at 5.48.

Chuck Courts is the leader for Kentucky bass at 3.13 pounds.

The oldest fisherman is Junior Kelley at an undisclosed age. You’ll have to meet him at a Tuesday night jackpot to ask him yourself how old he is.

And as stated earlier, the weight leader is Owens.
