McALESTER —

Booths will include pottery, jewelry, fine art and photography, quilts, novels of local authors, crafts, hand carved wood items and ornaments, baked goods, Rada Cutlery, Amish jelly, and much more. A brisket lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tickets costs are $7 per person and are available for purchase in the church office, but can also be purchased at the door. Take-out orders are available as well.
Shopping booths will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Nov. 19. The Boy Scouts will be hosting a breakfast that morning beginning at 9 a.m. The cost is $5 per person.
There will also be some silent auction items for bid both days. Such items include a beautiful Indian Paintbrush afghan, crocheted and donated by long time member Claudine Barringer, who has been a member of the United Methodist Women organization since 1948 and has served as president for nine years. She has been a member of Grand Avenue, now known as First United Methodist Church of McAlester for more than 50 years. There will also be a beautiful Heritage quilt in a full size. This quilt was quilted by the UMW quilters. The UMW quilters include Barringer and Audrey McCauley, who is also a long time member of Grand Avenue and the United Methodist Women’s organization. She has been a member of both for more than 50 years as well. The quilt top was donated by an anonymous member of the church. A lot of time has been given to each of these items by dedicated women who simply love the organization and believe in it’s mission.
The United Methodist Women organization’s purpose is to develop a creative, supportive fellowship for women, children and youth both globally and locally. The proceeds raised from the UMW’s Fall Festival will go to local charities.
