The first Hall of Fame winner this year, Kyle Pingleton, is not only the past county 4-H president, but has done so much more. He is a state 4-H Key Club winner and has won all three levels of the 4-H Best All Around Contest at the Pittsburg County Free Fair. He has won countless awards showing cattle. He has been a county officer since he was 14 , and helps run his own 4-H club with his grandmother and has done so for six years. He is a past Outstanding Junior 4-H member, is a four-year county 4-H ambassador and was selected this year as a state 4-H ambassador. He is the current District 4-H Vice President and was recently selected as a new state 4-H officer. He is a three-time state finalist on his state 4-H record book, and recently joined three other county members as a State 4-H Blue Award Group winner on his state Hall of Fame book. In addition, he is on the Superintendent’s Honor Roll at Hartshorne High School, Oklahoma Honor Society, FFA, Youth Conservation Board, Oklahoma Boys State delegate, FCA member, Junior Cattlemen’s, and Youth Leadership Oklahoma. He has applied for and taught three separate times at National 4-H Conference, and is a National Congress delegate this year. He wrote and won a 4-H Enhancement Grant entitled “Trees for Bees.” Community service projects he has started or is involved in include Colors for Kids and Helping our Heroes. He also won the 4-H I Dare You award.

Pingleton said he hopes to continue to grow in every way in 4-H, and hopes he can touch and help others’ lives along the way.

The second 2009 winner of this award is Rebekah Willis, of Canadian.

She is the newly-elected county president. She, too, has been a county officer since she was 14. She is a state 4-H Key Club winner. She is currently serving in her 3rd year as a state 4-H ambassador, and recently completed a term as District 4-H Song-leader. She also was this county’s first District 4-H Action team member. She has won County Share the Fun on multiple occasions. In addition, she is an Oklahoma Honor Society member, member of Eastern District Women’s Honor Choir, Superintendent’s Honor Roll, and competes in Varsity Basketball.

Willis is a recent state 4-H record book winner in Performing Arts. She joined other members in our county that applied for and were selected to teach at National 4-H Conference in 2008. She has served as a delegate to Denver 4-H Western Roundup and 4-H Citizenship Washington Focus and will join Pingleton as a National 4-H Congress delegate later this year. She is a past 4-H I Dare You award winner, and also joined Pingleton and others as a State 4-H Hall of Fame Blue Award Group winner this year.
