ALVA — Northwestern Oklahoma has been admitted to a three-year membership process for entry into NCAA Division II.
Officials announced the approval on Wednesday.
Last week, Oklahoma Christian and Rogers State announced they had been admitted to the first year of the process. Southern Nazarene said it had advanced to the second year of the candidacy process.
Officials say Northwestern Oklahoma and Southern Nazarene will begin playing conference schedules this fall in all sports except football. The schools will begin playing a full league gridiron slate in 2013.
Officials say provisional schools won’t be eligible for league championships until they complete the NCAA Division II membership process, but can be eligible to win individual awards.
