Summer is flying by at a new record speed, as Extension days are filled with summer camps, Pittsburg County Farmer’s Market, and summer family activities.
In the meantime, I am excited to be completing a two year project. For the last 24 months, Pittsburg County 4-H youth members have been writing and recording original music for this new CD project. The CD will have 19 songs written and performed by youth in Pittsburg and surrounding counties, and recorded at the Pittsburg County Oklahoma State University Extension Center. There are many different types of music encompassed in this recording, including country, blues and gospel. The release date will be July 29 at State 4-H Roundup in Stillwater. The CDs will sell for $10 each and will be available for sale to the public at the Extension office after Aug. 1.
Some of the songs on the CD include “Live Well,” “Panhandle Pete,” and “When I Grow Up I Want to be a French Fry.” More than 25 4-H members were responsible for completing this music project from five counties in southeastern Oklahoma.
