Red Oak Wreaths

McALESTER —

Red Oak 4-H members participated in the Fort Smith, Arkansas “Christmas Honors” project which was inspired by Wreaths Across America, which places Christmas wreaths on gravesites at Arlington National Cemetery. The wreaths honor those who have given their lives to provide the freedoms we enjoy in our beloved Nation. The cemetery is transformed into a vision of beauty and the families of those buried at Fort Smith National Cemetery take comfort in seeing the respect that is shown to their grandfathers, fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, friends and other fallen heroes who so loved our Country. With the help of over 1,000 volunteers, 13, 500 wreaths were prepared to be placed on every fallen hero’s headstone at the cemetery. The 4-H members with Kiamichi Technology Center – Talihina campus and Red Oak High School students worked on December 7 to prepare the wreaths. Pictured back row from left are, Ashlynn Montgomery, Allie Yandell, Chase Martin and Charity Thomas; and front row, Raylee Yandell and Maxx Montgomery.
