DING DING! Round 3 between citizens and commissioners

McALESTER — Something’s got to be done.

That’s what two Pittsburg County residents told the Pittsburg County Commissioners when the pair returned for yet the third time to get answers to what will be done about the heavy trucks tearing up county roads.

Curtis Golden and William Ray were at Monday morning’s regular meeting of the commissioners to follow up on a request they’ve made repeatedly over the last two months for a letter.

The request is for District 18 District Attorney Richard Hull to write a letter to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Commercial Trucks Enforcement troop to come to Pittsburg County to enforce the law regarding overweight trucks on county roads.

Hull said he’s been busy and hasn’t been able to get to it. Last week he apologized for not having the letter which was requested in May.

“I had a busy week,” Hull said. “I should be able to finish the letter today.”

Hull said, he and Gene Rogers commission chairman, went out to the site.

“I needed to get a visual and now I can see what you are talking about,” Hull said.
