McAlester woman pleads guilty in drug house case

McALESTER — A McAlester woman recently pleaded guilty in a case involving a drug house in McAlester.

Julie Ann Ketcherside, 38, pleaded guilty Sept. 28 in Pittsburg County District Court to one count of unlawful possession of a controlled drug (marijuana) with intent to distribute.

She was fined $2,700 and judgment and sentencing were deferred for five years. The following charges were dismissed:

• Possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony;

• Maintaining a place for keeping / selling a controlled substance; and

• Unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

The charge dismissals and sentence were pursuant to a plea bargaining agreement between Ketcherside and the District 18 District Attorney’s office.

According to court records, authorities from the McAlester Police Department and the Pittsburg County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant Feb. 2 at a home on West Seneca Avenue in McAlester.

Police arrested Ketcherside and Thomas Blair Getchell, 35, of McAlester. While searching the residence, police found numerous items associated with the distribution of marijuana, according to a police affidavit.

On Feb. 3, Ketcherside and Getchell were charged with three drug and firearm related felonies and one misdemeanor count.

After pleading guilty, Ketcherside was ordered to be supervised for two years by the Oklahoma Department of Probation and Parole. Getchell is due back in court Jan. 11 at 9 a.m. to face charges.
