Plans move forward for new CVS Pharmacy

McALESTER — Plans for the new CVS Pharmacy were the topic of Tuesday’s meeting of the McAlester Planning Commission.

The commission met for a regular meeting in Council Chambers at McAlester City Hall.

The new building will be constructed at the north-west intersection of Strong Avenue and Carl Albert Boulevard, according to Mark Emmons commission chairman.

City Manager Pete Stasiak said the company is seeking to replat four lots into one.

Stasiak said it’s a common request in other areas just not in McAlester.

“This will basically marry the lots together,” Stasiak said. “And makes it easier if they need to do something to the property.”

The legal description according to the agenda is “Replat of Lot 4, Block 325 and Lots 4,5, and 6, Block 326.”

The commission unanimously approved the change.

Chairman Mark Emmons said the final approval will be decided by the McAlester City Council at its next meeting on March 12.

Also present at Tuesday’s meeting was Chairman Mark Emmons, and members Robert Way, Karl Scrifes, Harvey Bollinger, Karen Stoubaugh, Denise Lewis, Primus Moore, Ross Eaton, Justin Few and John McNally.

The commission meets the third Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. The meetings are open to the public.
