McALESTER —
On Wednesday Pittsburg County officials discussed a full-scale disaster planning exercise at Kiamichi Technology Center.
The plans were discussed during a regular meeting of the Pittsburg County Local Emergency Planning Committee at the Southeast Expo Center.
The exercise involves staging a full-scale disaster scenario on April 18 at the Kiamichi Technology Center that is designed will help agencies plan what to do when a real disaster strikes, said LEPC member Trent Myers.
Myers said all local agencies such as McAlester Regional Health Center, fire departments, the Pittsburg County Sheriff and local police departments are invited to the event.
He said after the exercise is complete the agencies gather for a “Hot Wash” discussion.
Myers said the Hot Wash is when the members gather after the event to discuss the details and “find what we could do better next time.”
The LEPC meetings are held at 2 p.m. on the third Wednesday of the month at the Southeast Expo Center.
The meetings are open to the public.
