McALESTER —
Just after 5 a.m. today, firemen received a call regarding a house fire in the Bache community, just off U.S. Highway 270.
The home was vacant and no injuries were reported as a result of the blaze, said Krebs Fire Chief Chuck Nelms.
The call came in at 5:05 a.m. and first responders arrived on the scene of the fire at 5:10 a.m.
Firemen from Alderson, High Hill, Krebs and McAlester fire departments assisted in squelching the flames, a process which took more than three hours, Nelms said.
The home is considered a total loss, according to the fire chief. “The owners were in the process of remodeling.”
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, Nelms said.
