McALESTER —
Pittsburg County Special Judge William H. “Bill” Layden, 61, has been indicted on four counts of perjury in Oklahoma County.
The indictment was unsealed Wednesday in Oklahoma County District Court in Oklahoma City.
The latest indictment accuses Layden of lying to the Oklahoma Multicounty Grand Jury, led by Assistant Attorney General Charles Rogers, in connection with an investigation into the District 18 Drug Court.
Layden was the special judge who oversaw the drug court at the Pittsburg County Courthouse.
The first count accuses Layden of lying on March 30, 2011, by testifying drug court fees were paid directly to then-District 18 Drug Court Coordinator Angie Marcum because the county court clerk did not want to receive or account for them.
Count 2 accuses Layden of lying a second time on March 30, 2011, by giving false testimony regarding the District 18 Drug Court fee of $4,500.
Count 3 accuses Layden of committing perjury on July 20, 2011, by testifying that fees paid to the District 18 Drug Court were not deposited with the Pittsburg County Clerk Cindy Eller (Smith) because the court clerk declined to handle such payments.
Count 4 accused Layden of lying on Aug. 11, 2011, by allegedly giving false testimony stating that around May 13, 2010, he had requested then-District 18 Assistant District Attorney Mike Miller, and Larry Cook, the compliance officer for the District 18 Drug Court, “only to investigate a missing receipt book belonging to the District 18 Drug Court.”
