Landlord charged in tenant kidnapping runs for sheriff

McALESTER —  Landlord Dusty Swing is running for Sheriff after being charged with a felony for conspiracy for using police impersonators to kidnap his tenants.

“The notorious landlord is running for sheriff,” Swing said.

He is scheduled for another day in court for a preliminary hearing regarding the kidnapping charge.

Swing made his declaration of candidacy for Pittsburg County Sheriff on Wednesday at the Pittsburg County Election board.

Swing is also being sued by the tenants he is charged with kidnapping.

Clint Nelson, Veronica Osburn, Amanda Sparks and Carol Nelson filed suit in March against Swing and are seeking in excess of $10,000, according to court records.

Arrested in January, Swing was charged with one felony count of conspiracy to commit a felony for allegedly conspiring and the planning, along with the alleged police impersonators Brian Garrison, Gary Mooney and Margie Wiliford for allegedly kidnapping his tenants in December.
