McALESTER — Editor:

In reference to the controversy concerning the signs along the roadway and other places around McAlester. When I see these signs showing some military person or others kneeling before the cross, I see Jesus, the man who gave his life on that Old Rugged Cross that we might be forgiven of our sins and inherit eternal life. It helps me to turn my thoughts to Jesus and wonder how long it will be before He comes again to judge a lost and dying world and put an end to burglary, rape, assaults, drugs, murder, abused and neglected children and put an end to such controversies as the one in McAlester.

We then have until April 4th to take action on single-assigned bills and until April 11th to report double-assigned bills out of committee.

It looks as though the state’s prison employees are getting the short end of the stick — again.
Tuesday, the House tabled a bill that would have given all state prison workers a 5 percent pay hike. Starting pay for correctional officers would have gone to $14 per hour, up from a staggering-low of $11.83.
