McALESTER —
Mildred Inez Taylor, 89, of McAlester, died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, at a local nursing center.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Pryor Cemetery Chapel with Kelly Benson officiating. Burial will be at Pryor Cemetery in Stuart. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester.
Born Oct. 15, 1923, in Stuart, she was the daughter of Isaac Lee and Martha Parker Holt. She attended elementary school in the White Chimney and Lone Grove areas before going to high school in Stuart.
She married Haskell Taylor on Feb. 18, 1944, in McAlester. She was a homemaker most of her life, but for a while she worked as a seamstress for Seamprufe and later worked as a clerk at Rambo’s Grocery in Stuart.
She enjoyed spending time with her family at the dinner table eating a meal that she had prepared especially for them.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Haskell Lee Taylor and wife, Paula, of Stuart; grandchildren, Annette Bonham and husband, Mark, of Krebs, Daryl Taylor and wife, Denise, of Aims, Iowa, Bradley Taylor and wife, Kendra, of McAlester, and Jared Taylor and Gena, of Stuart.
Also, great-grandchildren, Laura, Matthew and Levi Bonham, Conagher Taylor, and Alyssa, Garrett and Jared “L.J.” Taylor, and sisters, Lorene Stacey, of McAlester, and Opal Hickman, of McAlester.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Mattie Knight; husband, Haskell “Hack” Taylor; brothers, Joe Knight, Andy Knight and Louis Knight; sisters, Pearl Dawkins, Ethel Jones, Ruby Shuler, Myrtle Adams, Ruth Lee Knight and Johnnie Knight, and great-granddaughter, Emily Taylor.
Pallbearers will be Bradley Taylor, Jarod Taylor, Mark Bonham and Stanley Elms.
