Jack Brewer, 54, of McAlester

McALESTER — Jack Brewer, 54, of McAlester, died Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, in McAlester.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Bethel Baptist Church in Red Oak with the Rev. Bob Cherry officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of Chaney-Harkins Funeral Home of McAlester.

Born March 20, 1958, in Flagstaff, Ariz., he was the son of O.D. “Buck” and Seirvillh (Taylor) Brewer. He grew up in Red Oak and graduated from Red Oak High School with the class of 1977.

He worked as a roughneck and electrician most of his life receiving the Gold Metal for the State of Oklahoma Electrical Trades in 1994.

He was a talented musician. He would write songs and poetry, and sing and play guitar for his family and friends.  

Survivors include his spouse, Shelly Abbott; sons, Beau Brewer and wife, Nikki, of Lavaca, Ark., and Jerad Abbott, of McAlester; brothers, Don Brewer and wife, Leslie, of Bengal, Clyde Brewer and wife, Bobbie, of Red Oak, and Paul Brewer, of Hominy; grandchildren, Keaton, Riley, Gracie, Caleb and Lexi Brewer and Hannah Hutchins, and numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Buck and Seirvillh Brewer; sisters, Geraldine Brewer and Ida Mae Louise Brewer, and brother, Marvin Brewer.
