Elmer Ray Rogers Jr. dies at 59

McALESTER — Elmer Ray Rogers Jr., 59, of Haileyville, died Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at McAlester Regional Health Center.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bishop Chapel of Memories with the Rev. Bart Patterson officiating. Burial will be at Oak Wood Cemetery in Wewoka. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Bishop Funeral Service of McAlester.

Born Dec. 23, 1953, in Charleston, Ark., he was the son of Elmer Ray Rogers Sr. and Catherine (Gramlick) Rogers. He graduated from Charleston High School in 1971.

He married Connie Gaines on Oct. 7, 1972, in Charleston. He worked as a tank truck driver in the oil industry for A & A Tank Trucks.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren and family.

Survivors include his wife, Connie Rogers, of the home; daughter, Amber Smith and husband, Dally, of McAlester; sons, Chance Rogers and Lindi Spence, of McAlester, and Brandon Rogers, of Haileyville.

Also, grandchildren, Morgan Smith, Hunter Smith, Carson Smith, Chesnee Rogers and Leah O’Dell; one brother; five sisters, and numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer Ray Rogers Sr. and Catherine Rogers, and one brother.

Pallbearers will be Wade Cantrell, Michael Bogard, Billy O’Dell, Jeremy Lemp, Jeff Pate and Bryan Messix.
